Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Brent_Marchant — 09 Nov 2018
The critics sure have missed it on this one -- a well-crafted biopic that could use a few tweaks here and there but that otherwise delivers the goods about the legendary rock band Queen and its iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury.
I'm not sure what reviewers were expecting, but many of the criticisms ring hollow, cynical, superficial or insufficiently explained. Overall, this offering hits mostly right notes in telling its story and enlightening viewers about its central character, and it does so in a way that's entertaining and informative.
If nothing else, see it for the excellent performance sequences, but don't be surprised if you come away loving it for the rest of its qualities as well.
