Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Curt R — 04 Nov 2018
I cannot say enough GOOD things about this movie. Rami Malek was spot on as Mercury and If he doesn't win a crap load of awards for his performance something's wrong. While the compressed timeline of Mercury's life requires large leaps the movie moves along at a good pace and you overlook the gaps.
The other cast members have decent performances, they serve simply to provide a backdrop for Mercury's outsided persona. I'm sure some will whine about the focus on solely on Mercury, but there would be no queen WITHOUT him.
Yes it's a nostalgia trip, but it shows the lasting impact of queen and what could have been had Mercury not died so young. Judging by the others in the theater they enjoyed it too. And that's all that matters.
