Review of Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) by Jay H — 02 Nov 2018
The negative critic ratings are almost certainly a reflection that this film did not fulfill their political agenda for what they think a Freddie Mercury movie should have been and not as much based on the merits of the film itself.
Yes, Rhapsody is fairly straightforward and conventional in its approach to the subject matter, but that hardly disqualifies the majority of films from receiving positive reviews. What we get is an entertaining and accessible film that will appeal to fans and those new to Queen's music via a thoroughly convincing performance by Remy Malek.
Critics really need to stop weighting their reviews based on their social sensibilities and agendas, which does a great disservice to their readership by deflating the value of otherwise enjoyable films and exaggerating the value of some pretty unwatchable films.
