Review of Body Snatchers (1993) by Tristan P — 30 Jul 2008
I used to strongly dislike this third version of Jack Finney's sci-fi classic, but a recent re-viewing changed my mind. Abel Ferrara's film is similar to Romero's DAY OF THE DEAD in it's use of the military as a metaphor for soullessness. This version also taps into the fear of the disintegration of the family unit.
Not as good as the brilliant 1978 version, nor the excellent original; but exponentially better than Nicole Kidman version.
