Review of Body of Lies (2008) by Arthur R — 11 May 2010
The hype over this movie was a body of lies. The fact that the commercials made it look like it was going to be a good film was a lie, as well. My low rating may be a little biased by the fact that I expected more of a rivalry between Crowe's and Di'Caprio's characters. The commercials paint Crowe's character as much more of a nemesis than he turned out to be. And that was a real let down.
SPOILER:
The movie ended with me wanting more conflict. It was immensely anti-climactic. Crowe just let's Di'Caprio go at the end. The climax was a simple deus ex machina for Di'Caprio from the terrorists? Where's that intensity of betrayal and fighting between Crowe and D'Caprio that the previews entailed? Oh well. Happy ending. He gets to pursue his dream girl, although will be unable to give pleasure to her with at least two of his fingers..
Movie was an epic fail for me. Don't buy or rent this film (over a dollar at Redbox). Get it from the library for free.
