Review of Body of Lies (2008) by Jhary O — 14 Jul 2010
This film certainly didn't dissapoint in displaying all kinds of action whether that be explosions, shooting, fighting, running, car chases and so forth. But throughout the film I did sense the oh so typical 'Middle East is bad, America is great' sort of plot seen in many other movies similar to Body of Lies with a slap of Hollywood gloss added into the mix.
Although the plot was suspensful and interesting most of the time it was a bit ill concieved and difficult to follow at others with lots of 'intel' speak. The acting was also a bit disappointing from the main stars Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio with Crowe ulimately wasted and DiCaprio coming off cliche.
I actually thought the best acting was from the lesser known actor and actress Mark Strong as Hani and Golshifteh Farahani as Aisha. But overall the film did manage to deliever a suspensful, action packed thrill ride for visual pleasure but don't count on the story or ending too much.
