Review of Body of Lies (2008) by Jonathan K — 15 Dec 2010
I really wanted to like this film. DiCaprio is one of my favorites and he, along with costar Crowe, does an outstanding job. the problem is that there was no time spent developing a connection between the audience and the protagonists.
sure, I didn't want the character of Ferris to be tortured but that's just commonplace movie suspense. ultimately, I didn't care about these characters and that's because the script is constantly alienating with overly-complicated details and espionage structures.
not sure if it was the plethora of arabic names/terms or code jargon or even the lack of logical continuity but it was hard to follow and therefore hard to care.
