Review of Body Heat (1981) by Michael T — 18 Jun 2008
Just before he directed THE BIG CHILL (1983) Lawrence Kasdan directed this very entertaining neo-noir. This is a great film. Kathleen Turner is the incredibly hot femme fatale who lures the doomed sap (William Hurt) into her schemes and destroys him.
Hurt, with a seedy moustache, is coasting through life (his character is very similar to the character Jeff Bridges played in CUTTER'S WAY[1982]) and falls into Turner's web all too easily. Both deliver great performances as do Ted Danson (as a dancing DA, don't ask), Richard Crenna (as Turner's creepy mob-connected husband), and Mickey Rourke (as an arsonist who advises Hurt in his scheme).
Well worth watching.
