Review of Body Heat (1981) by Aidan H — 11 Apr 2011
Turgid faux-noir bollocks complete with fedora and retro sleazy sax soundtrack which somehow propelled Kathleen Turner (here as wooden as a medieval casting couch) into the limelight. She and a woefully miscast Hurt indulge in sweaty but mild hanky-panky that fails to ignite despite the movie's notorious reputation.
It's warmed over Double Indemnity at its most tepid and hardly worth the effort, especially when you can guess the twist ten minutes into the film. 1 star for the repetitive but enhancing John Barry score.
