Review of Body and Soul (1947) by Doug C — 09 Apr 2010
A great noir about prize fighting, social mobility, and corruption. John Garfield stars as a rising prize fighter trying to escape the slums, but ends up alienated and empty as he succumbs to the temptations of the world of organized crime in which his promoter circulates.
A great boxing film and classic redemptive ending in the ring.
