Review of Bob Dylan – Don't Look Back (1967) by Ladd W — 07 Aug 2007
When you consider the bubbly antics of the Beatles in 1964's "Hard Day's Night", as four lads reveling in fame and the attention that comes with it, compared to Dylan's sobering, even disgruntled, unscripted reaction to fame in Pennebaker's classic doc, it's easy to brand Dylan a jerk, snubbing the press and defying audience expectations.
But Don't Look Back shows the young Dylan, warts and all, as a musician barely coping with the pressures of the public eye, yet in his private moments never compromising his artistic integrity.
