Review of Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) by Peter R — 14 Sep 2009
This film is horrible, it has a lot of problems (it has more bad than good):
- the blues brothers don't do a lot of fancy stunts, dances or singing that is anywhere near as good at the orginal. Most of the blues brothers band members are not good singers, except for that black sheriff guy, he's the best singer in the band.
- the singing is mostly bad and the dancing is poorly done and awful.
- there's barely anything funny about this movie. A lot of these parts are unfunny.
- This movie only has a few funny parts. There's barely anything funny about it. The only funny parts about it are the scene where Elwood, Mac and Buster escape from the cops by putting a lot of shaving cream on Elwood's face and act like he has some sort of disease to escape from the fuzz and another one is the scene where Elwood, Mac and Buster escape from the Soutern army soldiers - the general of this soldier likes to hear himself talk.
- some of the music is good., but most of it isn't.
- the acting is laughably bad at times.
- it rehashes and recycles old material from the first "Blues Brothers" movie, like the church scene from the first movie. This movie does this to show the lack of good writing or new ideas. These scenes are mostly half-assed and stupid.
- it's plot is poorly and written and all of these actors can't sing or dance very well.
- Elwood keeps using that stupid: "the lord works in mysterious ways" line, which makes it get annoying really quick.
-------------------------------------------------------------.
Stay far away from this movie, it's not as good as the first moviethe first "Blues Brothers" movie. You're best off watching the firs movie, instead of this disgrace of a movie. I give this 'movie' a 4/10.
