Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Jonny B — 13 Dec 2010
Let's get the fact that Jeffrey stumbling across a cut-off ear is a little too convenient. Anyway, this is maybe the only David Lynch film where I see His genius. It's a new brand of surrealism entirely Mr.
Lynch's. Dennis Hopper is unforgettable and the film, debatable, has one of the best opening scenes in any film. White-picketed fences with a dose of the grotesque, Lynch's territory. There isn't a frame I would edit out of this film it's simply a pure and original work of art.
