Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Paul R — 18 Mar 2011
This is a fabulously dark David Lynch thriller. If you like Lynch, then you'll love this. Blue Velvet stars Kyle Maclachlan as a young man who meets a mysterious & evocative woman and soon enters the nightmarish world she lives in - fuelled by the insane Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).
This is one of Hoppers wildest and scariest roles - he plays 'crazy' with worrying ease. Blue Velvet is unsettling, bizarre, bold and beautiful. This is a great film from one of my favourite directors.
