Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Zetto M — 14 Oct 2011
Blue Velvet is an excellent thriller, filled with suspense, quirks, and elements of horror. The creativity provoked by writer/director David Lynch is spellbinding, he crafts a story that is gripping, suspenseful, and includes beautiful imagery and an atmospheric score to escalate the effect.
The mysterious story leads down a path that is unpredictable, and filled with shades of disturbance, fear, heroism, lust, and monstrosity. The thrill scenes are as chilling and compelling as any seen on film.
The performances are all played out on a correct note, but Dennis Hopper especially who absolutely nails the sickness of Frank, the twisted and abusive antagonist. It's a suspense story that will surprise, and stun you by it's originality and impressive achievements in enthrallment.
