Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Matt G — 24 Nov 2015
It's pretty easy to shut out and be ignorant of the darker sides of life, but once we see it, it becomes impossible to ignore. Lynch's wary look at American suburbia counters the seedy underbelly with such a strange obsession, the result is uniquely creepy.
Toes the line between surreal and stupid adeptly, allowing us to laugh and cower simultaneously. A fascinatingly odd neo-noir.
