Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Carlos R — 16 Sep 2010
An extraordinary film, and a masterpiece of filmmaking. It's a wonderful thriller, with mystery and a lot of sexual references. It's weird, in a good way, Dennis Hopper and Isabella Rossellini's performances were very theatrical, though amazing and perfect for the film's tone.
MacLachlan's acting as the lead role was really good too. It contains so many great scenes, good dialogues and some suspense and romantic scenes with a lot of symbolism, however the movie's essence was never lost and the excitement and mystery were always present.
I had high expectations and they were completely satisfied, a shocking motion picture.
