Review of Blue Valentine (2010) by Brian S — 21 Jan 2013

What separates this flick from other romantic love movies is that nothing necessarily turns out for the best in the end, and that's just what makes the movie amazing. I don't think anyone thought that a low budget love film would be this compelling.

And it's supported by two powerful and very strong performances from Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, the two characters are extremely well developed as well as the chemistry between them. And it's also interesting how the film shifts back and forth in time to show us the origins and then collapse of the marriage.

Overall, this is a flick that'll stay in your mind for a little while, it's a very good film. Recommended !!
