A honest, heartfelt look at the blossoming - and ultimate erosion of - one couple's loving relationship. Unlike many films which adopt similar themes and cinematography, Blue Valentine never feels contrived.
It's performances ring true and its cinematography often enhances our intimacy with both characters. Both charming and heartbreaking, Blue Valentine is a welcomed addition to its genre.
