Review of Blue Thunder (1983) by David G — 13 Jul 2008
The first "grown-up" movie I saw with my dad (snicker) Blue Thunder is probably twenty minutes too long, but maintains its very minor action classic status with solid work from the late Roy Schieder and some fantastic aerial photography which puts modern CGI overkill to shame.
Also interesting as an unintentional psychological study as Schieder's 'hero' is obviously insane and would most likely be sentenced to life in prison for his various 'heroics'--even if he was the genius who figured out that Malcolm McDowell was.
..um, evil. I picked up the Special Edition for maximum nerdiness.
