Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Leslie M — 14 Apr 2012
When a movie sparks a debate that rabbit holes in enough ways to keep a conversation going for days, it's pretty much a winner. Blue Like Jazz pushes the boundaries of the Christian genre to the breaking point, where most of the movie's target audience actually lives.
Despite some potentially distracting randomness, viewers will leave theaters with the clear message that, like any lifestyle, Christianity's painful stereotypes are not always accurate, nor are they a prerequisite for the people one may encounter. Owning your story is difficult, but with some artful tweeks, Donald Miller does just that. And he invites us to dissect his experience and make something of it. so, yeah, i'd go see this if I were you.
