Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Sydney Y — 17 Mar 2014
I'm not Allen's biggest fan, but this is some of his best work in a while. Then again, this succeeds mainly because of the lead performance by Cate Blanchett, who owns every single scene she's in.
You can't take your eyes off of her. The dialogue is sharp....the look of the film is great, with beautiful views in New York and San Francisco. Sally Hawkins is very good too as Blanchett's sister, but this is Blanchett's movie from start to finish.
She's simply brilliant.
