The name Woody Allen alone made me watch this film. It isn't really a movie which leaves a strong first impression, but after 20 minutes I reckon I'm in for something special. It is about a New York woman who refuses to stick to reality and regards herself too highly.
However, it touched me more than most other movies because of its overwhelming resemblance to the character of Hong Kong people. Turning a blind eye to her husband's illegal business, Blanchett ended up destroying her own family.
Pretentious yet emotionally fragile, she attempted to maintain a luxurious lifestyle, risking bankruptcy during the process. Think about the name of the latest Hong Kong flats, and you might be find a sad shadow of yourself in this brilliantly performing actress.
