This movie is like a clever high school boy imagining what adult relationships are like. While it is nice to see Woody Allen leave his usual New York City setting (and by extension, Europe) it is clear that he knows very little about San Francisco, its residents, history and culture.

Setting aside, this is a cruel portrait of an upper class woman fallen on hard times, which is of course a nod to A Streetcar Named Desire. However, the depiction of the working class couple in this story is EXTREMELY condescending.

Cate Blanchett's performance nearly saves this, as she really makes us sympathize with her character, but I just couldn't like this. Woody Allen's outdated views on relationships are no longer relevant to me.
