Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Nikolayg — 04 Aug 2013
Arguably Woody Allen's best film. He has certainly made none better. While this movie has a passing resemblance to A Streetcar Named Desire, it is more nuanced, more complex, more layered, and more convincing.
Unbelievable script and performances. This film deserves at least two Oscars, for script and best actress. And it hinges on no amusing gimmick. No time travel. No man stepping out of a movie screen. No hypnotist.
No gangsters cursing one another under the influence of helium. Just excellent pure focused tight drama. See it.
