Review of Blue Jasmine (2013) by Gerardo R — 02 Jun 2014
An ex socialite arrives in San Francisco to move in with her hard working sister to start again fresh. Cate Blanchett does a great job making a narcissistic, obsessive character fascinating to watch. The screenplay and dialogue are classic Allen, but fresh in this storyline.
While New York still plays a role, San Francisco takes center stage in this film. As Allen movies go, this one does not disappoint. It is a character driven film that addresses human relationships in all their complexity; although in some areas, Allen does skip the intermediary stages to show off the final result.
