Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Dennis R — 22 Dec 2013
This is one of those love dramas(gay. straight, or whatever) that gets to the heart of what passion is. The unbridled and seamless character development t allows one to lose themselves in this non-action 3 hour film.
Perhaps, once in a decade a film like this appears, that grabs you beyond belief, but all too believable. It is impossible not to fall in love with the actors, and their true to life credibility. Adele Exachopoulous as Adele, is so beautiful to watch, and the Lea Seydoux, as Emma, as the relatively older woman compliments the unfolding passion of Adele.
The explicit sex scenes lets us see erotic passion close up, and you really see how it is impossible for the characters not to fall in love after watching the first love scene between them. I have heard the director got lot;'s of heat from both cast and crew, but the results is that rare description, that fits the bill for the story, the acting, and direction- tour de force!
