Review of Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) by Pills T — 08 Nov 2013
I keep reading "raw...emotional...best film of the year". so I scurried to my local independent theatre and vowed to sit through 3 hours of this film. I did. I was a bit disappointed.
This film was an hour and a half film extended into a 3 hour movie. There were scenes that made no sense, felt like filler scenes. I wish they had deleted those scenes and explored the dyanmics of Adele and Emmas relationship. It started out so well, and the end was brutal. The filling in the middle was missing. I wanted to see what made their relationship so deep and ardent. Instead, I got empty scenes of Adele stuffing her face with food, several close ups of Adele literally sleeping, and a few other monotonous, senseless scenes.
While I don't regret watching this film, it was by far not the best film of the year nor was it emotional. It definitely was "raw" with the passionate, unfiltered, sex scenes. Definitely not for the squeamish.
