Review of Blue Crush (2002) by Nelly B — 27 Mar 2009
Kate Bosworth is a hardcore surfer who had an accident and is now scared of getting back on the waves and proving herself. This is all very well and good and understandable but it's the silly love story in the middle that ruins it, don't get me wrong he's not a bad guy but it's as if the writers couldn't think of anything else for her to do until the tournament, so they decide that she can fall for some handsome football player who's passing through and will continue passing.
It tries hard to be a "girl power" film (as evidenced by the mere presence of Michelle Rodriguez), but due to a lack of imagination, fails. Watchable with some wonderful photographY.
