Review of Blow-Up (1966) by Michael O — 02 Aug 2009
The brilliance of Antonioni's cinematic form is at its most hip, polished, and entertaining in Blow-Up.
He'd always done a terrific job of sucking me in but never so tensely and so thrillingly. Like all the great thrillers of this period, it allows us to be a part of the investigation; giving the procedure some leisure and apt patience. By the time I got to the end I felt drained and relieved by the consequences of getting in far too deep. The movie is so visceral and interactive; I'd never felt so meshed with the hero.
