Review of Blow Out (1981) by Shaun B — 30 Mar 2011
DePalma's homage to Antonioni's pretentious 'Blow Up', is not only a superior work, but one of his best films. 'Blow Out' is suffused with cinematic intelligence allowing the film to unfold on the audience piecing together parts of a murder, and also is a movie about making movies.
While DePalma's love of Hitchcock is omnipresent, he is always building on it, creating his own hallmarks as a director.
