Review of Blow Out (1981) by Allan C — 26 Aug 2011
Possibly my favorite Brian DePalma film. Like many DePalma films, it's not for all tastes, but this one delivers his usual terrific suspense set pieces and also delivers probably his most emotional ending of any of his films.
For those who accuse DePalma of being a misogynist, Nancy Allen's ridiculously feeble brained character probably helps that argument greatly. If they ever remade this film, I'm sure her character would be the first thing they changed.
In spite of this I'm still giving the film five starts because the rest of the film is so excellent.
