Review of Blow Out (1981) by Ninon M — 29 Aug 2017
Before Tarantino, Brian de Palma already offered ultra-stylized pictures. 'Blow Out' might as well be the perfect example of its director's stylish signature - it is a film about filmmaking, a film which ends like it started, a film whose shots are all glossy, all exciting, a film which does have astounding suspense scenes and which comes close to Hitchcock, without quite being there perhaps because its numerous elements distract audiences from its suspense-creator main theme, but they also give style aplenty.
