Review of Blow Out (1981) by Private U — 09 Dec 2008
I love Brian DePalma. Everyone cites Scarface or Carrie, but this is my favorite movie of his. Set in the world of low-budget exploitation, John Travolta gives one of his most natural and best performances as a sound effects man who uncovers a murder plot by accident when he records a carcrash while capturing sounds.
Influenced by Antonioni's Blow-Up, but I will take this over that film any old day of the week. Disturbing downbeat ending.
