Review of BloodRayne (2005) by Jim M — 11 May 2008
An excellent example of the Good-Bad Movie. Rayne (Kristanna Loken) is half-human half-vampire warrior out to slay her father the powerful Kagan (Ben Kingsley, WTF!?) with the help of the warriors of the Brimstone Society (Michael Madsen, Matt Davis, Michelle Rodriguez).
The plot has a couple holes, acting is flat, continuity is sketchy. Yet I love this movie. Loken and Rodriguez in skin tight leather, Michael Madsen as a vampire hunter, cameos by Udo Kier and Meat Loaf (who's unintentionally hilarious), and loads of violence, gore and a gratitous sex scene.
Never been a Uwe Boll hater, none of his movies are good but I've enjoyed most of his movies (2 out of 3 that I've seen). Not a classic, prolly not faithful to the game but he's not afraid of excess.
Check your brain at the door, open a couple beers and enjoy.
