Review of Bloodline (2008) by Erno K — 29 Sep 2008
This is one of those irritating documentaries that has a fascinating subject but does not really answer anything and raises even more questions.
Think about the impact on the Christian world, if it turned out that Jesus was actually married and didn't even die on the cross. Exactly. Now think about watching a documentary about the subject, thinking to get some answers, only to get some vague suggestions and hasty interviews. Exactly. Very frustrating. Burgess is also annoyingly self-promotive in the film, but that is the contemporary style.
There are many things in this movie that seem way too staged, at least to the skeptic eye, which I have, two of them actually. I find myself wondering why some other, more qualified people didn't make the discoveries before. Some dude with a camera and some quick research finds the tomb of Mary Magdalene? I don't think so, man. I actually checked the website, and there is a book called The Priory of Sion Dossiers on sale, on the peachy price of $24.95. Can you say cha-ching! They just want money, the bastards. Nevertheless, the documentary raises interesting questions and makes some wild guesses that kept my conspiracy-loving arse entertained.
I can name one group that will hate this film. It rhymes with schmatolic smurch.
