Review of Blood: The Last Vampire (2000) by Andrew G — 11 Feb 2009
As far as animation goes, "Blood" is top-notch, from the amazing lighting effects to satisfying death scenes (the subway death being especially beautiful). Love the muddy, not-quite-perfect aspect to everything. If The Cure or Nine Inch Nails ever made an anime music video, it would probably look like this movie.
I got a little lost on the story, however; It's somewhat, how shall I say... mysterious? A few things didn't get explained satisfactorily, like Saya's reason for doing what she does, for instance. I suppose if they made it into a feature film they would have had more time for all that, and anyways, you see animated films mostly for the animation.
