"Uh, well, if the pay's right, and it's legal, I'll do it.".

Texas tavern owner Julian Marty hires unscrupulous private detective Loren Visser to not only tail Marty's two-timing spouse, Abby, but also murder her and her bar-keeping paramour.

For such a low budget film Blood Simple looks simply gorgeous, the Coen brothers have a knack for staging scenes and finding great cinematographers to bring these scenes to fruition. The film is an outstanding debut for the duo, as Blood Simple is the first glimpse of the new sheriffs in Hollywood.

The films script is tautly constructed, brutal, cold, and fascinating. Though there is relatively little dialogue in the film, much more is conveyed through the actors' performances and the way its directed.

Add in the stellar acting from the cast and a memorable score, and Blood Simple is the blueprint to the success that is the Coen brothers.
