Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Joe T — 19 Oct 2009
The Coen Brothers' debut film is full of the little things that make their films unique. Watching it is like going on a ride. The camera is always on the go, creating a sense of motion in almost ever scene.
The movie is dark, raw and bleak. The Coen brothers do a good job of projecting that bleak, dismal look into the picture as the characters stumble their paranoid way through the story. This makes for a morbidly comical and fascinating experience for the audience.
Ultimately, the movie has just enough of a sick sense of humor that I'm sure Hitchcock would have loved it.
