Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Michael M — 20 Jan 2011
The Coens make a ferocious debut with a great film that combines film noir with a bit of splatter horror. You can tell theyre fresh from the editing room of The Evil Dead, using very similar hyper camera work and dark cinematography that adds to the frantic middle and climax that you literally cant tare your eyes away from.
Like most other Coen films its great for re-watchability, after each viewing you will see something else that you love about it. If you dig movies with balls & films made from ambitious hungry new comers that are looking to make a name for themselves, I urge you to seek out this some what forgotten indie gem.
