Review of Blood Simple (1985) by Justin H — 05 Jul 2011
Now that the Coen Bros. have been major filmmakers for years, it's cool to go back and watch their debut again (or for the first time). Particuarly resonant are its similarities to NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, the Sam Raimi touches, and the effortless stylistic machinations of doom.
The great character actor M. Emmett Walsh almost steals the show. Neo-noir at its best. The ending is simply brilliant.
