Review of Blood Into Wine (2010) by Kelly P — 25 Jul 2010
Interesting & surprisingly original documentary about two things really: (1) the evolution of a proven rock star's (Maynard James Keenan) desire to create something out of nothing (a vineyard in the Arizona desert).
..and see it flourish & (2) the actual pain-staking process of developing a thriving winery (with partner Eric Glomski)...from the selection of soil to the final stages of actually bottling their unique creations and getting them to wine sellers across the nation.
Tool fans should find this film more than a little bit fascinating. Wine enthusiasts should be able to appreciate many aspects of this doc. Others will find it educational...and pretty damn funny at times.
..to say the least. Worth a rent for most when it comes out on DVD in September.
