Review of Blood for Dracula (1974) by Ross P — 09 Sep 2009
Wonderfully trashy and quasi arty rendition from Andy Warhol/Paul Morrissey of Bram Stoker's classic novel. In this particular version Udo Kier as Count Dracula must quest to Italy for virgin blood to save his own life.
He winds up with an Italian noble family with four daughters (three of which are seeming nymphomaniacs) and talk of marrying Count Dracula into the family for his money soon ensues and the the plague of the vampire spreads-supplemented by non-stop sex scenes and gratuitous nudity.
The dialogue and acting are so delightfully hoaky and melodramatic. Paul Morrissey stock actor Joe Dallesandro is really convincing (NOT!) as an authentic Western European Butlah sex freak. This film has its charms.
