Review of Blood Father (2016) by Igor T — 03 Sep 2016
My first movie experience with Mel Gibson was at the tender age of 6. My viewing of the film, What women want, will live on in infamy because that movie was complete and utter garbage. However, one redeeming feature of that movie was the lead actor. My boy Mel Gibson. His charisma and charm won me over the moment I laid eyes on him. Tragically, after a series of events that essentially made people hate Mel's guts, he took a short break from film. I missed him dearly. However, one fateful summer night I watched the trailer for the movie, Blood Father. A series of fond memories of Mad max and Braveheart suddenly came flooding back into mind. Since I live in the middle of nowhere I was unable to view this movie in a theatre. However, I was able to catch this movie on demand today. And, might I say MEL IS BACK BABY! This movie excels is the sense that, it carries an overdone plot (daughter in trouble daddy saves her) with wit, style, and a satisfying finale. This movie more than exceeded my expectations. But be warned, it's not an artistic masterpiece. It's a lot like a quickie. It's fun short and you wish It'd been longer.
I give this flick an 8/10.
