Review of Blood Diamond (2006) by Ebru T — 25 Aug 2011
A powerful film that will open your eyes to what really goes on in West Africa. Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou gave two of the best performances of 2006. I think DiCaprio's performance in this film was even better than his performance in the Departed, which is really saying something.
While this film had the feel of special effects and violent battle scenes to carry it with a pseudo-love story to complement it, the underlying story of post-colonial African troubles were well captured.
Very violent and graphic, but still a great film with great credit going to director Edward Zwick.
