Review of Blood and Bone (2009) by Ian P — 06 Mar 2010
As cliched and plot-by-numbers as they come. Fortunately, I watched this for the same reason I would watch the Blade movies if they were utter crap. To see a badass (Michael Jai White) destroy everyone who crosses him. Speaking of Blade, man I wish they'd make another one with White as Blade's brother or something stupid like that. It'd be amazing, White and Snipes are so similar.
The plot is basically the Van Damme classic Lionheart with some slight alterations. Oh, and Rufio is in it. As are some mma/martial artist cameos, namely Gina Carano, Kimbo Slice, and Bob "The Beast" Sapp. The movie proved it's okay to put mixed martial artists in your film, as long as they don't have to do too much acting.
Not a great movie but much better than most of the drivel the genre spews out.
