Review of Blood and Bone (2009) by Damarcus B — 20 Mar 2013
One of the most underrated, overlooked action movies of all time. No joke, one of the best action movies I have seen In a long time. he Film had that David Carradine Kung Fu storline arch, but I rather say it felt more as if Bruce Lee was in Kung Fu instead.
The skill level of Michael Jai White in this movie was set @ high level, and did not disappoint. The power of this film came across the screen and in you're face. Massive political and social overtones through out the movie, splashed between action that you wanted to see more then once.
Why this movie is not a TV Series on HBO or Showtime is beyond me. A powerful black male superhero was a breath of fresh air, Michael Jai White not playing the role of servant or side kick. Nona Gaye was beautiful and strong in this movie, and wanted to see her in a part two in this film ASAP.
The idea to invest in evil, greed, and to promote genocide within ones community will just get you a visit from Mr Bone.( That would be the the opposite of a good day!! ) The Film had a complete independent we made this vibe to it and budget for this film my guess was at the low end, but it made the movie even more gritty.
This would be a great Comic Book Novel if was not one already.Cult Classic status is just around the corner for this movie. After watching this movie I only had one question. Why did Tyler Perry hire him self to play Alex Cross not Michael Jai White? Alex Cross would have been Michael Jai White's ''Return Of The Dragon''.
