Review of Blonde (2022) by Jluis_001 — 30 Sep 2022
Visually I have no complaints. It's simply spectacular. But the script? That's where Blonde falls down. And when we're talking about a movie that's almost 3 hours long, the myth and the beauty of your production won't be enough to make it, and Blonde sadly proves it.
And as mentioned, the myth that Norma Jean has become since her death gets a different exploration here, but I'm not so sure that does her justice. After all, the examination and exploitation of her life and career has yielded so much material that it's now unclear where it begins and where it ends.
Ana de Armas delivers the performance of her life and I really have nothing to reproach her for, but in the end for me Blonde is a film that covers too much and doesn't really say anything that matters.
