Blockers - Review (2018).
The Good.
John Cena & Ike Barinholtz Steal The Movie, Cena who plays the over protective father and Ike who has more layers than his other generic characters in his past films.
Leslie Mann is good but she basically plays her generic character in past films.
Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan and Gideon Adlon are all fantastic.
Kay Cannon's fantastic directorial Debut.
Some of the Gross out humor works with Cena butt chugging and Cena locking eyes with a man having sex.
There's actually strong character development.
Its more than a average teen sex comedy it flips it, its basically compared to American Pie, but makes it about the girls with a good message of celebration of personal choice, self-confidence and love in whatever form it comes.
Its actually a sweet and heartfelt comedy.
The pacing is perfect at 102 minutes.
The Bad.
The Gay Subplot with Sam (Gideon Adlon), doesn't get much attention and feels rushed.
Some of the men who are apart of the sex pact could of got development too as well as the the 3 girls did.
The Gross Puking scene was disgusting.
This isn't a negative to the movie, but the trailers for this movie were garbage.
Overall: Quite a big surprise of the year thought this could of been one of the wrist movies this year, but nope its the 2nd best co edy of the year, Game Night still wins so far.
Overall Grade: B+.
