Review of Blended (2014) by Scott W — 11 Apr 2015
Sandler and Barrymore has given us sweet transitions of their on-screen romance- from growing old with the wedding singer, taking chances on the fifty first dates, to blending with new encounters. It was a nice attempt but it's just filled with cliches and predictable turns.
The plot tends to be perfect for the older pair but it prefers to go on a familiar path. I had a few laughs but are those enough to redeem Sandler's cinematic charm? He even admitted in his Jimmy Kimmel's interview that he did his films to get "paid vacations".
Truth is, family vacation serves as an overused backdrop to thicken the plot. Nevertheless, I still adore the duo. Perhaps they can give Paul Thomas Anderson a call? (Punch Drunk Love, anyone?) 2/5 folks.
